Magnify the Comet

The moon illuminates the snowy landscape of the Montafon mountain range in the Austrian Alps. Comet 46P/Wirtanen can be found just below the open star cluster of the Pleiades in the constellation Taurus. It was barely visible to the unaided eye as a faint diffuse object. In the photography it stands out because of its slightly green color, the typical emission of the neutral coma cloud and its C2 lines.
